The Open Hand That Multiplies

Day 11 · November · Proverbs 11.24

Today's Verse

“One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.”

Proverbs 11.24 · NIV

The Story

Imagine you have a little bag of seeds. If you keep them all locked in a drawer, afraid to lose them, they'll never become anything. But if you plant them, even knowing some seeds will be lost along the way, the soil gives back much more than you planted.

The Bible says whoever gives generously sees their wealth increase, but whoever only wants to keep everything for themselves ends up poor. It sounds strange, but that's how God made the world work: giving from the heart increases, holding on out of fear decreases.

Think about sharing your lunch with a friend who forgot theirs. You don't go hungry because of it, and you gain a closer friend. Keeping everything just for yourself, out of fear of running out, doesn't make you richer, it makes you lonelier.

Jesus gave His whole life, keeping nothing back, and because of that He received the highest name that exists. Whoever learns to give like Jesus gave never really goes poor.

A closed hand receives nothing new. An open hand multiplies.

Today's Challenge

The Generous Sower

What have you been holding onto out of fear of sharing? Whoever does it is the day's Generous Sower.

Family Prayer

Father, teach us to have an open hand like Yours. Take away our fear of running out, and fill our heart with generosity. In Jesus' name, amen.
