What Money Can't Buy

Day 17 · November · Proverbs 17.16

Today's Verse

“Why should fools have money in hand to buy wisdom, when they are not able to understand it?”

Proverbs 17.16 · NIV

The Story

Imagine if you could pay someone to learn how to ride a bike for you. That wouldn't work, right? You'd have to get on, fall a few times, and try again. No one can learn for you.

The Bible asks: what's the use of money in a fool's hand, if they don't want to learn? Wisdom isn't for sale in any store. It costs effort, practice, and humility, not money.

Think of a student who buys all the fanciest supplies, but doesn't study. They have the resources, but not the result, because what matters is the effort to learn, not how much was spent.

Jesus gave us wisdom for free, as a gift, but we still need to open our hearts to receive it and practice it every day. You can't just "buy the package" and expect to become wise without any effort.

Wisdom isn't bought, it's learned with effort.

Today's Challenge

The Hard-Working Student

What have you been trying to "buy ready-made" instead of learning through effort? Whoever does it is the day's Hard-Working Student.

Family Prayer

Father, give us a real desire to learn, with effort and humility, without looking for easy shortcuts. Thank You for giving us Your wisdom as a gift. In Jesus' name, amen.
