Did you know there's a huge difference between a sponge and a stone, even when both are underwater? The sponge absorbs all the water, gets wet inside. The stone, even floating in water for hours, stays dry on the inside. It doesn't let anything in.
The Bible says the heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, and the ears of the wise seek out wisdom. That means the wise are like the sponge: always ready to learn more, always asking "why?", "how does this work?"
The fool is like the stone: they think they already know everything, and so they don't let anything new in. They might even be surrounded by smart people, books, teachers, but they stay dry inside, because they close their heart to learning.
Jesus, when He was a child, stayed at the temple listening to the teachers and asking questions. Even being the Son of God, He wanted to learn. If Jesus asked questions, we can ask too without being embarrassed.
Be a sponge, not a stone: let wisdom in.
