Have you ever wanted a friend's toy, even knowing they got it in a way you don't think is right? That wanting is called envy, and it's like a poison that spoils your joy on the inside.
The Bible tells us not to envy those who do wrong, even when it seems like they're doing well. Instead, we should keep our eyes on God every day, trusting that His way is always best, even when it seems slower.
Think of a classmate who cheated on a test and got a high grade. It might seem like they "won" something, but really they lost the chance to actually learn. Envying that kind of "victory" only distracts us from our own path, which is doing things the right way, even if it takes longer.
Jesus never envied the power of those who ruled in the wrong way. He kept His eyes fixed on the Father, knowing that the right path is always worth more, even when it looks harder at the start.
Envying someone else's wrong shortcut steals your own joy.
