The Trap We Build for Ourselves

Day 29 · November · Proverbs 29.6

Today's Verse

“Evildoers are snared by their own sin, but the righteous shout for joy and are glad.”

Proverbs 29.6 · NIV

The Story

Ever seen a hunting trap in a cartoon, the kind the animal steps on by accident and gets stuck in? The Bible says doing wrong things is like falling into a trap we built ourselves.

It says the sin of the wicked person traps them, but the righteous shout for joy and are glad. Think about a lie: you tell one, and now you have to remember it forever, or you'll trip yourself up. The lie becomes a prison.

But whoever does the right thing doesn't need to hide anything, doesn't need to remember "which version" they told to who. That freedom feels so good it makes you want to sing, to feel light inside.

Jesus came to set us free from the traps we build for ourselves. When we trust Him and do the right thing, we become truly free, and that freedom is a reason for joy and singing.

Whoever does the right thing doesn't have to remember lies. That's freedom.

Today's Challenge

Is there a "trap" you built yourself that you need to undo? Whoever does it is the day's Free Singer.

Family Prayer

Lord Jesus, You came to free us from the traps we build ourselves. Help us always do what's right, so we can live free and full of joy to sing. In Jesus' name, amen.
