Some people pretend to know everything, even when they don't. But a man in the Bible named Agur did the opposite: he openly said he was "dumber" than anyone else, that he didn't have all the smarts in the world.
That might sound strange, but it's one of the wisest things anyone can say. When we admit we don't know everything, we make room to learn new things. Whoever thinks they already know it all shuts the door on learning.
Think of a cup already filled to the brim: nothing else fits in there. But an empty cup can be filled with good things. Being humble is like emptying the cup so God can fill it with real wisdom.
Jesus said that the "poor in spirit," the humble people who know they need God, are the truly happy ones. When we admit our limits, we make room for God to teach us and help us.
Admitting you don't know everything is the first step to really learning.
