Imagine you bring a huge bag of candy or a brand new video game to school. Everyone wants to be your friend, right? They all gather around asking for some. But what if the candy runs out? Or the game breaks? Most of those kids will go play with someone else. That's sad, but it happens. Those are "friends of convenience."
Today's proverb teaches that a lot of people only like what we have, not who we are. But a real friend, and Jesus is the best example of this, stays by your side even when you have no candy, no toys, or when you're sad.
