Whoever Studies Has Something to Say

Day 24 · February · Proverbs 24:7

Today's verse

“Wisdom is too high for fools; in the assembly at the gate they must not open their mouths.”

Proverbs 24:7 · NIV

The Story

Have you ever noticed that in a conversation about something serious, some people talk a lot of nonsense, but when it's time to say something that actually helps, they go quiet? That happens because small talk doesn't need studying, but important matters do.

The Bible says the words of the wise are too deep for fools to understand, and that when it's time to discuss important things, fools have nothing to say. It's not that they're dumb, it's that they didn't prepare.

Think about a test at school: whoever studied can answer the hard questions. Whoever didn't study stays quiet, trying to guess, hoping not to get called on. Preparation is what gives you something worth saying.

Jesus used to tell stories (parables) that seemed simple but had a deep meaning. Whoever really wanted to learn paid attention and understood more and more. Whoever just wanted to pass the time understood nothing. The more we truly seek to know Jesus, the more depth we gain to speak about life.

Whoever prepares has something to say when it truly matters.

Today's Challenge

The Prepared Student

What important subject would you like to have more to say about? Whoever does it is today's Prepared Student.

Family Prayer

Father, teach us to truly prepare, studying and seeking understanding. May we have depth to speak about the things that really matter. In Jesus's name, amen.
