Imagine you're at school and a friend doesn't want to carry his backpack because he's feeling lazy. He asks: "Can you carry mine, please?" If you pick up your backpack and his together, your back is going to hurt a lot and you won't even be able to run at recess!
The Bible talks about something called "putting up security," which is a hard way of saying: don't agree to pay for other people's mistakes or laziness. If a friend broke a window, he's the one who has to tell the teacher, not you taking the blame for him.
Helping is really good! But there's a difference between helping someone get upand carrying the person's weight in their place. The first does everyone good. The second hurts both of you.
Our Father in Heaven wants us to be kind, but everyone has to have the courage to own up to their own actions!
You can help a friend carry their backpack, but don't carry it in their place!
