Heart of Gold

Day 17 · March · Proverbs 17:3

Today's Verse

“The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the heart.”

Proverbs 17:3 · NIV

The Story

Did you know that when gold comes out of the ground, it comes full of little bits of dirt mixed in? For it to become a king's crown or an engagement ring that shines a lot, the blacksmith has to put the gold in a really hot furnace! The fire burns away all the dirt and leaves only the valuable part.

The Bible says our heart also goes through a "little furnace." Sometimes we get upset because dad said "no," because we lost a game, or because the homework is hard. That feeling is the fire!

But the fire is there to burn away laziness, stubbornness, and the urge to cry about everything. In the end, the heart becomes clean, brave, and shiny like gold.

Our Father in Heaven only puts what has high value into the furnace. If you're having a hard day, it's because He sees gold in you!

The hard little furnace isn't destroying you. It's making your heart shine like gold!
