Truth With Love

Day 29 · May · Proverbs 29:5

Today's Verse

“Have you ever thought about having a friend who always says you're amazing, even when you make mistakes? Sounds good, right? But Proverbs says that's a trap!”

Proverbs 29:5 · NIV

The Story

Imagine you're learning soccer. One friend keeps saying: “You're the best! Your kicks are amazing!” but really you still miss a lot. The other friend says: “You're improving! But you need to practice dribbling more.” Which one actually helps you grow?

Flattery is when we say what the other person wants to hear, not what they need. It looks like kindness, but it's a trap for both people: you don't improve, and your friend loses your trust when the truth comes out. Jesus never flattered anyone. He told the truth, with love, but without hiding it. And that's why the people who met Him were transformed.

Today's Challenge

Truth With Love

Today, if someone asks what you think of something, be honest, but in a kind way. “I liked this part, but I think it could be better here...” At the end of the day, tell your family: when did I tell the truth with love today?

Whoever does that is today's True Friend!
