Wise and Humble

Day 3 · Proverbs 3:34

Today's Verse

“He mocks proud mockers but shows favor to the humble.”

Proverbs 3:34 · NIV

The Story

Picture two kids at recess. One always says: “I know everything, I don't need anybody!” He never asks for help, never takes advice, and when he messes up, he gets angry at everyone. That kid ends up alone, because it's hard to be friends with someone who thinks he knows it all.

The other kid does it differently: when he doesn't know something, he asks. When he messes up, he admits it. When he needs help, he asks for it. Then friends show up, the teacher helps, and he learns much faster. Proverbs 3:34 is talking about exactly that: God helps whoever is humble.

Jesus, who was the Son of God, washed the disciples' feet, played with children, stopped to listen to those nobody else listened to. He showed that humility isn't weakness, it's the greatest strength there is.

Being humble isn't thinking less of yourself. It's having the courage to ask for help.

Today's Challenge

Asking for Help!

Whoever asks for help is the bravest one in the room. God is on the side of the humble!

Family Prayer

Lord Jesus, teach us to be humble the way you were. May we have the courage to ask for help, to admit when we're wrong, and to learn from others. May pride never close us off from your grace. Amen.
