Kind Eyes, Honest Words

Day 10 · Proverbs 10:10

Today's Verse

“Whoever winks maliciously causes grief, and a chattering fool comes to ruin.”

Proverbs 10:10 · NIV

The Story

Have you ever seen someone make a mean face behind another kid's back, like rolling their eyes or smirking to a friend so the other person can't see? That kind of mean is sneaky, but it still hurts a lot, even though no one said a single word.

And you know what else hurts people? Talking too much about someone when they're not there, like passing around a secret that wasn't yours to share. Both of those are ways of being unkind without ever saying “I'm being unkind.”

Imagine you found out a friend made fun of you behind your back instead of just telling you something honestly. That stings more, because you can't even talk it out, you just feel it.

Jesus never did that. He always said the truth straight to people, with kindness, never behind their backs. That's why the Bible says: “speaking the truth in love” (Ephesians 4:15). Both things together!

A mean face behind someone's back still hurts. Kind, honest words said to their face are what really heal.
