Wise Friend

Day 13 · June · Proverbs 13:20

Today's Verse

“Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.”

Proverbs 13:20 · NIV

The Story

Have you ever noticed how we pick up the ways of our friends? If you hang out with someone who uses bad words, you learn bad words. If you hang out with someone who's kind, you learn kindness! We become like whoever we walk with!

You know when you're around someone with a cold and you end up catching it too? It's kind of like that with people's ways: we “catch” the habits of whoever we spend time with!

If you hang out with friends who study, you end up studying more. If you hang out with someone who helps others, you become kinder too. But the opposite is also true: if you hang out with someone who does wrong things, it gets easy to do wrong too.

That's why choosing your friends well matters so much! And you know who's the best friend of all to walk with? Jesus! He said: “learn from me” (Matthew 11:29).

Today's Challenge

Choose Wisely!

The closer you get to Jesus and to whoever does good, the wiser you become!

Family Prayer

Lord Jesus, you are the best friend there is. Thank you for calling us to walk with you. Help us choose our friends well and be good company for those beside us. May our group do good together. Amen.
