The Faithful Gardener

Day 28 · June · Proverbs 28:19

Today's Verse

“Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies will have their fill of poverty.”

Proverbs 28:19 · NIV

The Story

Imagine you plant a little seed, but every day you want to plant a different one, and you never water any of them. What's going to grow? Nothing!

To get good things, like playing an instrument, being good at a sport, or doing well in school, we need to take care of one thing at a time, with care, every day. Hopping from one thing to another, or just staying distracted, doesn't let anything grow.

Whoever takes care of their little plant reaps beautiful fruit. And the most important little plant of all is our friendship with Jesus: watering it every day with prayer makes our faith grow strong.

Whoever tends their little plant every day reaps; whoever just hops from one to another ends up with nothing.

Today's Challenge

The Faithful Gardener

Today, choose ONE good thing to take care of with real care all the way through (a task, practicing something, helping at home), without getting distracted along the way. At the end of the day, share: what was your little plant today, and did you water it all the way through?

Whoever does it is today's Faithful Gardener!

Family Prayer

Lord, help our family take care with care of what You've placed in our hands, without losing ourselves in distractions, and to water our friendship with Jesus every day, which is the land that gives the best fruit. In Jesus' name, amen.
