You know when Mom says “don't run near the pool, the floor is wet and you'll fall,” but you think the warning is boring and run anyway? And then, splat, you slip and get hurt? Afterward comes that thought: oh, if only I'd listened!
Parents and teachers have lived longer than us and can see danger before it happens. When they give advice, it's not to ruin the fun; it's because they love you and don't want you to get hurt. The smart person listens to the warning before getting hurt.
And the best advisor of all is God, who in the Bible warns us all the time about what's good for us. Listening to good advice today saves a lot of tears tomorrow.
