Imagine you pour a little water on a sponge and on a rock. What happens? The sponge soaks up all the water and gets nice and full; the rock lets the water run off and stays dry.
People are a little like that when someone teaches or corrects them. Whoever is like the sponge listens, learns, and keeps getting smarter and better. Whoever is like the rock gets angry, thinks they already know everything, and learns nothing. The Bible says something really cool: the wise person, every time they learn something, gets even wiser!
The secret is being a sponge: when Mom, Dad, or a teacher teaches or corrects you, instead of getting angry, soak up that lesson the way a sponge soaks up water. And the greatest wisdom of all begins when we love and respect God.
Be a sponge, not a stone: learn from everything you're taught.
