Before anything else: God cares for you every day, with so much love, and He never gets tired of caring. His love for you never dries up.
Have you ever seen a little plant in a pot? If we water it every day and leave it in the sun, it grows strong and one day gives a flower or a fruit. But if we forget to water it, it wilts, and wilts, until it dries up. The little plant doesn't die because it's bad, it dies because it ran out of water.
The good things in your life are just like that little plant. Your friendship with a classmate needs water, which is playing together, sharing your snack, and saying sorry when you mess up. Learning to read also needs your daily little watering, a bit of practice every day. And eating well, sleeping early, and brushing your teeth, that's water for your health.
And here's something important: the little plant doesn't grow at the same moment you water it. You water today, and the fruit only comes after a while. So you can't get discouraged and stop watering just because nothing has shown up yet. And sometimes, we water it just right and the fruit still takes a while or comes out different than we wanted. That's okay, because God keeps caring for you the same way.
And the most important little plant of all is your friendship with Jesus. Watering that friendship means talking to Him, listening to Bible stories, and doing good. But don't worry: Jesus' love for you is already guaranteed before any watering. You don't water to be loved, you water because you want to stay close to the One who already loves you.
