Wisdom Pill · Day 1

Whoever Warns You Loves You

August 1, 2026 · Proverbs 1:24

“Since you refuse to listen when I call and no one pays attention when I stretch out my hand.”

Proverbs 1:24 · NIV

Before anything else: God loves you all the time and never gets tired of calling you. He doesn't wait for you to mess up so He can scold you, He calls because He wants what's best for you.

Have you ever heard Mom shout from the kitchen: careful, that plate is hot! Or: don't run with the glass cup in your hand! In that moment you kind of want to pretend you didn't hear, right? It feels like the warning is ruining the fun.

But think about it with me: why does she warn you? Because she's already seen what happens. She knows the plate burns and the glass breaks. Whoever warns you is seeing a little piece of the future you can't see yet.

Today's verse is Wisdom talking, a little sad, saying something like: I called, I reached out, and you didn't even turn your head. You know that feeling when you invite someone to play and they don't answer? A little annoying, right? Wisdom was feeling that way.

And here's the best part. God doesn't give up calling you. He calls in all kinds of ways: through the Bible, through Mom and Dad, through that cool teacher, and through that little voice inside your heart that says something isn't right. Every time you stop and listen, you become smarter and safer.

Listening to a warning isn't losing the fun, it's gaining protection.
The Listening Ear

Challenge

Question: which warning did you decide to listen to today? Whoever listens to a warning today is the house's Listening Ear!

Family Prayer

Lord, thank you because you never get tired of calling our family. Help us listen to warnings with an open heart, without thinking it's just nagging. Give us the humility to accept it when someone corrects us. And thank you because, even when we're slow to answer, you keep knocking on the door. In Jesus' name, amen.
