Before anything else: God loves you for free and doesn't charge you anything for it. He doesn't wait for a gift to like you, because His love has already been yours forever.
Imagine you got a pack of six cookies and a friend shows up right then. You're going to share, how nice! But now comes the important question: which cookie are you going to give them? The pretty, whole one, or the one that got broken at the bottom of the pack?
Both ways are sharing. But only one of them shows that the person really matters to you. Giving your best is a way of saying, without saying a word, that you really love someone.
Today's verse is about that. God asks us to offer Him our best, not what's left over. And here's something very important for you to understand: we don't give to God to win a prize later. We give because we love Him and because He already took care of us first.
You know what the most beautiful part is? God was the first to give His best. He sent Jesus, who is the best gift there is, before we did anything for Him. When we give the bigger piece, we're just copying His way of doing things.
And giving isn't just toys and cookies. Giving your best time to listen to someone is also a huge gift.
