Before anything else: God loves you and takes care of you every day. That love doesn't depend on anything you do, and nothing ever changes that.
Think about your toys for a minute. Have you ever noticed how some last for years and others break really fast?
It's not always because one was better than the other. A lot of times it's about care. The toy that gets put away in the right place, away from the rain, that doesn't get thrown off the couch and isn't pulled hard, that one lasts a long time. The one left out in the yard disappears or breaks quickly.
God gave you two very precious things to take care of: your little body and your time. And taking care of them is a way of saying thank you.
Taking care is simple and has no mystery to it. It's going to bed at the right time, even when you wanted to stay up. It's eating things that are good for you, not just the tasty ones. It's putting on your helmet, looking before you cross, saying something when it hurts.
And there's one kind of care a lot of people forget: taking care of your heart. When you hold onto anger at someone for a long time, that gets heavy inside. Forgiving doesn't mean saying everything was okay, it means taking the weight off your back.
And here's something important for you to know: sometimes a really good person gets sick, and that's not a punishment or their fault. In those moments we don't understand, but God stays close and keeps taking care.
