Before anything else: God loves you just the same whether you get it right or get it wrong. When someone corrects you, that doesn't change His love one bit.
Imagine you ran out of the house to play and there's a leaf stuck in your hair. You can't see it, but everyone else can.
Then a friend comes up and says, hey, there's a leaf in your hair. How do you respond? There are two very different ways.
The first is to get mad, make a face, and say he's lying. Then you keep playing with the leaf in your hair, and now everyone has seen two things: the leaf and the face.
The second is to take the leaf out, laugh, and say thanks. In two seconds the problem is over.
Today's verse talks about the person who always picks the first way. She doesn't like whoever warns her, because she doesn't want to look like she made a mistake. So she keeps the leaf in her hair for her whole life.
And here's the funny part: whoever warns you about the leaf is on your side. Whoever wants to see you look silly stays quiet and laughs behind your back. The real friend is the one who warns you.
So, next time someone corrects you, try this: take a breath, and say thank you before you respond with anything else. It's hard at first and gets easier after that.
