Wisdom Pill · Day 18

The Two Bicycles

August 18, 2026 · For the grown-ups to read with the kids

Before anything else: God loves you the exact same amount on the careful day and on the rushed day.

Imagine two boys who got a new bike on the same day.

The first one goes around banging his bike into everything, throwing it on the ground, kicking it. He's wrecking it on purpose, and everyone can see it.

The second one doesn't break anything. He just takes bad care of it. Leaves it out in the rain, never cleans it, never oils the chain.

A year later, both bikes are sitting in the garage, not working.

Notice that nobody broke the second boy's bike. The rust crept in slowly, one day at a time. And the result was the same.

That's what today's verse teaches. Doing it halfway is breaking it slowly. The damage takes longer to show up, but it shows up.

And the good part is it works the same way on the right side too. Taking a little extra care every day also adds up, and one day you look and everything's still in one piece.

And Jesus said something beautiful about this: my Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working. God takes care of the world every single day, without ever stopping. And He helps you take care of things too, if you ask Him.

Doing it halfway is breaking it slowly.
Family Challenge

Today's challenge is called Today's Extra Care.

At the end, talk about it: was it a lot more work than you thought?

This time's challenge: Extra Care of the Day
Family Prayer

Lord, thank You because You take care of us every day, without ever failing us. Help our family do things with extra care, even the small things nobody sees. Teach us to fix what's breaking down before it becomes a big problem. And thank You because You love us the same way on the good days and on the rushed days. In Jesus' name, amen.
