Before anything else: God loves you all the time, the same amount, and nothing changes that.
Imagine that at recess you see a classmate sitting alone in a corner, about to cry. Or you see someone who fell down and hurt their knee.
Right then there are two roads, and both of them are easy to take.
The first is to walk past. Nobody will be mad at you. Nobody will even notice. You can keep playing as if you had not seen anything.
The second is to do something. And doing something is much simpler than it sounds.
Jesus told the story of a man who was hurt on the side of a road. Two people saw him and crossed to the other side so they would not have to walk near him. Then a man came along whose heart was truly filled with pity. He stopped, cleaned the wounds, took the man somewhere safe, and even paid for someone to look after him.
Now here is something very important to remember. Helping does not mean getting in the middle of a fight. If someone is being hurt, you never step into the middle. You run and get a grown-up, and running to get a grown-up is the bravest kind of helping there is.
And telling a grown-up is not tattling. Tattling is telling on someone so they get in trouble. Telling a grown-up is getting help for someone who needs it. Those are completely different things.
