Wisdom Pill · Day 26

The Leg That Heals by Itself

August 26, 2026 · For the grown-ups to read with the kids

Before anything else: God loves you on the days you get everything done and on the days you don't feel like doing anything at all.

Imagine your mom asks you to put your toys away. And you answer: oh, I can't, my leg hurts.

Then, two minutes later, the doorbell rings. It's your friend, asking you to come ride bikes.

And the leg heals instantly. A miracle!

Everybody has done this, you know? I have, you have, your dad has. It is not something to feel ashamed about. It is something to get wise about.

Today's verse tells about a man who did the same thing, only with a much bigger excuse. He didn't want to go out and work, so he said there was a lion in the street waiting to grab him.

And notice something funny: nobody ever saw that lion. Not even him, because he never went out to look.

That is how it works. When we don't really want to do something, we invent a nice big lion, because nobody argues with a lion.

And almost every time, when we finally go and look, the lion wasn't there. There was only the street.

The leg that hurts when it's time to tidy up heals the second somebody says playtime.
Family Challenge

Today's challenge is called Today's Lion.

At the end, talk about it: was your lion really big, or was it a kitten?

This time's challenge: Lion Hunter
Family Prayer

Lord, thank you that you are with us out in the street and inside the house. Help our family not to invent lions to escape what needs doing. Give us courage to take the first step, even a tiny one. And thank you that Jesus has already defeated the real lion. In Jesus' name, amen.
