Wisdom Pill · Day 31

The Borrowed Voice

August 31, 2026 · For the grown-ups to read with the kids

Before anything else: God loves you and always hears your voice, even when you speak very quietly.

You know how there is usually a really shy kid in the class? They talk quietly, and sometimes nobody hears them. Or they stay quiet because they feel embarrassed.

Then, when somebody takes their snack or cuts in front of them in line, they can't manage to say anything. They just stand there with their eyes filling up.

That is the moment when there is something wonderful you can do: lend them your voice.

Lending your voice means speaking for them. It means telling the other kid, he was here first. Or going to get the teacher and explaining what happened.

And here is the interesting bit: they were never actually voiceless. They do have a voice. It is just that right then, nobody was listening. When you speak alongside them, people listen.

The Bible tells us to do exactly that: speak up for people who cannot speak for themselves.

And do you know who did it first? Jesus. When he was accused, he stayed quiet and did not defend himself. But when it comes to you, he speaks. The Bible says he pleads with the Father on our behalf.

Whoever has a strong voice can lend a bit of it to someone whose voice is quiet.
Family Challenge

Today's challenge is called The Borrowed Voice. Look for somebody who is being quiet at break time or in class.

At the end, talk about it: how do you think they felt when somebody spoke up for them?

This time's challenge: The Borrowed Voice
Family Prayer

Lord, thank you that you always hear us, even when we speak very quietly. Help our family to notice who is being left out. Give us courage to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. And thank you that Jesus speaks for us when we get things wrong. In Jesus' name, amen.
