Wisdom Pill · Day 3

The Plant Nobody Watered

September 3, 2026 · For the grown-ups to read with the kids

Before anything else: God loves you every single day, including the days when you forget to talk to him.

Imagine you were given a little plant of your very own. On the first day you water it very carefully. On the second day you do it again. On the third day you even tell your teacher that you have a plant at home.

Then a busy week arrives. A test, a school trip, Granny coming to visit. And when you finally remember the plant, it has gone all droopy, with its leaves hanging down.

Now answer one question. Did you want to hurt the plant? Of course you didn't. You never even thought about it.

And that is the funny and important part at the same time. Nobody decides to let the plant droop. We just forget to water it.

Good things work exactly the same way. Saying thank you, making your bed, praying before you sleep, asking your mum how her day went. Nobody decides to stop. We just stop remembering.

That is why today's verse asks for two things instead of one. Don't forget, and always remember.

Notice that remembering is something you do on purpose. It is not something that happens by itself.

And look at what Jesus did on the last night before he died. He left his people a meal to repeat forever, and he said: do this in memory of me. He knew that we forget, so he left something lovely and real to help us remember.

And there is more. He sent the Holy Spirit, who helps us remember the things he taught. You do not have to remember all on your own.

Nobody decides to let the plant droop. We just forget to water it.
Family Challenge

Today's challenge is called The Watering Can.

At the end, talk about it: what helped you remember?

This time's challenge: The Watering Can
Family Prayer

Lord, thank you that you never forget us, not for one second. Help our family to remember the good things we have learned. Teach us to take care every day, and not only on the first day. And thank you for the Holy Spirit, who helps us remember you. In Jesus' name, amen.
