Before anything else: God loves you all the time, on the days you get it right and on the days you get it wrong.
You know when you break something by accident and you get that urge not to say anything? Or to say it was already broken?
Telling the truth at that moment is hard. It gives you a funny feeling in your tummy.
But today's verse says something lovely. It says being honest shows that you respect God. Which means telling the truth is a way of showing God that you love him.
And there is another important part of being honest. It means saying what you really feel. If you are sad, you can say you are sad. You do not have to pretend everything is fine.
And here is a great story. One day a friend told a man called Nathanael that he had found Jesus, who came from a little town called Nazareth.
And Nathanael answered with his nose in the air: can anything good come from Nazareth?
That was not very polite, was it? But when Jesus saw Nathanael coming, he said: here is a man with nothing false in him.
Jesus liked that Nathanael said what he really thought, instead of pretending.
With Jesus, nobody needs to pretend. You can come to him just as you are.
