Wisdom Pill · Day 16

The Strongest in the Class

September 16, 2026 · For the grown-ups to read with the kids

Before anything else: God loves you all the time, on the days when you stay calm and on the days when you lose your patience.

Imagine you have built a really tall tower of blocks. Then somebody runs past and knocks it all down.

In that moment you feel a huge urge to do something. Shout, push, or knock their tower down too.

Today's Bible verse says something surprising: it is better to be patient than powerful. It means real strength shows up when we manage to calm down.

Staying calm when you feel like fighting is like holding an enormous strength inside you. Only someone truly strong can do it.

And do you know who did this better than anyone? Jesus. When some men came to take Jesus away, one of his friends wanted to fight and grabbed a sword. And Jesus said: "Put your sword back in its place."

Jesus was so strong that he could have called armies of angels to help him. And even so he chose to stay calm, because he was carrying out a plan of love for us.

And here is more good news: you do not have to do this on your own. God's Spirit helps us to be patient.

The strongest in the class is the one who can control themselves.
Family Challenge

Today's challenge is called The Strongest in the House.

At the end, talk about it: was it hard to wait? What helped you calm down?

This time's challenge: The Strongest in the House
Family Prayer

Lord, thank you that you are patient with us every single day. Help our family to hold back our strength when we feel like fighting. Teach us to wait for our turn and to calm down. And thank you for Jesus, who was the strongest of all and chose to stay calm out of love for us. In Jesus' name, amen.
