Before anything else: God loves you all the time. And nobody has to buy his love, because he gives it for free.
You know the referee in a football match? He is the one who blows the whistle for a foul and decides whether it was a goal or not.
Now imagine that, before the match, one team gives the referee a big bag of sweets. And then, in the middle of the game, he gives a penalty that never happened, just to help the team that gave him the sweets.
That would not be fair, would it? The other team would lose without deserving to.
Today's Bible verse talks about exactly that. It says that corrupt judges accept secret bribes, and then the decisions stop being fair.
And we become referees lots of times too. When we decide who goes first in a game. When somebody asks who knocked the cup over. When a friend offers you their snack so you will say it was somebody else.
At those moments, what is right cannot be swapped for a sweet, a toy or a snack.
And look at what happened after Jesus rose again. Some soldiers were given money to tell a lie about him. They took the money and spread the lie. But do you know what did not change? Jesus was still alive! The truth won.
