Wisdom Pill · Day 7

Listening Ears and a Rushed Answer

Day 7, so Proverbs 7...

Proverbs 7:24 (GNT, excerpt):

"Pay attention"

A trusted adult begins explaining how to cross the street safely. You are excited and reply, "I already know!" But they have not finished yet. Listening all the way through helps you understand how to stay safe before you run off.

The Bible invites us to pay attention to wisdom. For you, that can begin with pausing your game for a moment, looking at the person speaking, and asking when you do not understand. You do not need to know everything. Learning is also a way to care for yourself and other people.

Listening does not mean losing your voice. You can share how you feel and ask for explanations. If someone asks you to hide something that hurts or scares you, find another trusted adult. You are not responsible for solving adults' problems.

God loves you when you learn quickly and when you need to hear something again. His love does not depend on always getting things right. Jesus teaches us to receive what is good and practice that care one step at a time.

Golden Phrase: "I can listen to the end and ask about what I did not understand."

  • 1With your family, choose one simple instruction that helps you stay safe or care for others.
  • 2Listen to the end and explain, in your own words, what you understood.
  • 3Put that instruction into practice with a trusted adult's help.

Question for a family conversation: "How can we listen to one another without interrupting?"

"Jesus, thank you for loving me when I get things right and when I need to learn again. Help me listen carefully, ask questions, and practice what is good. Take care of me and teach our family to speak respectfully. Amen."
