Day 16, so Proverbs 16... Verse 1 (GNT):
"We may make our plans, but God has the last word."
You set out the blanket and chose a toy for a picnic in the park. Just as it was time to leave, heavy rain began. You want to complain: "But we already planned it!" You really did prepare. You just could not control the weather.
Proverbs teaches that we can make plans without thinking we control everything. With an adult, you can consider another option: wait for the rain to stop, change the day, or have your snack in the living room. The care you took to prepare your time together was not wasted. A change may call for another idea, not an argument with everyone.
You may feel sad and say so. You do not need to pretend to be happy to prove your faith. The rain does not mean God is punishing you or that you prayed incorrectly. Jesus loves you before you get anything right and keeps loving you when the day does not go as you wanted. Adults are responsible for safety decisions; you do not have to solve their problems.
Jesus also spoke to the Father about his feelings. We can ask him for help and listen to those who care for us. Our part is to prepare thoughtfully, talk, and try a safe option. We do not have to be in charge of everything to enjoy time together.
Golden phrase: "I can do my part and learn to change the plan."
