Day 18, so Proverbs 18... Verse 13 (GNT):
"Listen before you answer. If you don't, you are being stupid and insulting."
Your friend starts explaining why the block tower fell. Before they finish, you say: "You built it wrong!" But they wanted to explain that someone bumped the table. When we do not hear the ending, we may answer a different story from the one that happened.
The proverb teaches us to listen before answering. You can hold your idea for a moment, let your friend finish, and ask: "Is that what happened?" If you misunderstood, it is okay to admit it and try again. "Stupid" is not a name to call others; this study helps us notice a behavior we need to change.
Jesus stopped to hear Bartimaeus when others wanted him quiet. You matter too, and you can tell a trusted adult how you feel. If someone threatens or hurts you, ask for help. You do not need to solve this alone or take on adults' worries.
Jesus loves you before you get anything right, even when you interrupt and need to start again. With his help and the adults who care for you, you can learn to wait your turn, hear another idea, and speak with greater care.
Golden phrase: "I can hear the ending before I give my answer."
