Day 26, so Proverbs 26... Verse 14 (GNT):
"Lazy people turn over in bed. They get no farther than a door swinging on its hinges."
You want to put away your toys. You make a pretty list, choose colors, and change the names on the boxes. After a while, you look at the floor: the toys are still scattered around. The list can help, but it still needs to be used. How about putting three toy cars in the right box first?
The proverb compares a person turning over in bed to a door swinging on its hinges. There is movement, but it stays in the same place. We can learn to notice when we are only preparing again for something we can already begin. That does not mean resting or needing help is wrong.
Jesus loves you before you do any task and keeps loving you when you are slow or confused. His love is not a prize for putting everything away quickly. He teaches us to hear and practice his word. One way to learn is to care for what we use and ask honestly for help.
Adults need to explain the task and help in ways suited to your age. You do not need to organize the whole house or solve their problems. If you are tired, do not understand, or find it difficult, say so. Together, you can choose a small step and a break when needed.
Golden phrase: "With help, I can turn my plan into a small step."
