Wisdom Pill · Day 29

The Rule Applies to Friends Too

Day 29, so Proverbs 29... Verse 2 (GNT, paraphrase):

Righteous rulers bring happiness to their people; wicked rulers make their people's lives miserable.

During a game, each child waits for a turn. But the person organizing it keeps letting their best friend go first. Soon the fun turns into frustration. The problem is not just losing a turn: it is noticing that the rule changes according to friendship. When an agreement is fair and explained kindly, everyone can play with greater confidence.

Proverbs speaks about rulers and people living with their decisions. In a game, we can learn one part of this wisdom: if you have been asked to organize, remember that your choices affect your friends. Ask whether everyone understands, and get an adult's help when something is difficult. Sometimes someone needs an adjustment to join in, and that is a form of care too.

If a rule is hurting you, tell an adult you trust. It is not your job to fix adults' injustices or stay silent to be considered a good child. Adults are responsible for listening, protecting, and guiding. You can learn to treat others respectfully, and you have the right to be treated respectfully too.

Jesus loves us before we get any agreement right. His love does not disappear when we make mistakes. He taught his friends to serve and cared for them. With his help, we can tell the truth, ask forgiveness, and change an unfair choice. Then someone else can share in the joy.

Golden phrase: "I can care for others when it is my turn to choose."

Guardians of Everyone's Turn

  • 1With an adult, choose a game and agree on how each person will take part.
  • 2Ask whether anyone needs help or an adjustment so they can play.
  • 3During the game, respect the agreement and talk about anything that seems unfair.

Question for a family conversation: "Is there a family rule we need to explain better or make fairer?"

Today's playful title: Guardian of Everyone's Turn. You are loved before you win, organize, or get things right.

Family Prayer

Let's pray: "Jesus, thank you that your love does not depend on our getting everything right. Help our family listen kindly, treat people fairly, and acknowledge when we are wrong. Give children courage to ask for help and adults wisdom to protect and guide. Teach us to serve as you taught us. Amen."
