The Mission of 2026: The Map and the Fuel

January 1, 2026 · Proverbs 1:2

“for gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight.”

Proverbs 1:2 · NIV

Solomon opens the book by explaining what it's for. And in doing so, he defines exactly what we need to win in 2026. This verse gives us the two fundamental pillars of any achievement:

Wisdom (The Map)

In the original Hebrew, the word Chokmah (wisdom) means "skill for living." It's not about having a brain full of data; it's having the technical skill to navigate life. It's knowing how to choose the path, how to decide, how to build. Entering 2026 without wisdom is like entering a forest without a compass.

Instruction/Discipline (The Fuel)

The word here can also be translated as "discipline." Having the map (wisdom) is of no use if you don't have the discipline to walk.

The Summary for 2026: Many have goals (dreams), but few have the method. God's method for your success this year is the inseparable union between seeing the right path (insight) and having the consistency to walk it (discipline).

The Christ-Centered Connection

Luke 2:52 says that "Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man."

Jesus Himself didn't live off improvisation. He devoted time to "learning wisdom." He submitted to the discipline of human life, of work, and of obedience to the Father. If we want 2026 to be a Christ-centered year, we need to imitate the Master: pursue intentional growth. He is the Way (the route of wisdom) and He gives us the Holy Spirit (the strength for discipline). Starting the year with Christ is guaranteeing that both the map and the fuel are secured.
