The context of Proverbs 5 is the seduction of everything that leads away from wisdom. "Wealth" is the sweat of your life: years of work, savings, skills. The "stranger" is everything that shouldn't have a right to your fruit, but ends up receiving it because you got distracted.

The Cost of Effort: Feast on Your Wealth

An addiction, a wrong relationship, an impulsive decision, a dishonest business partner. These are today's "strangers." Every distraction has a measurable cost: lost hours, spent money, drained energy. The problem isn't the temptation itself, but the price it charges against your accumulated effort.

The Transfer of Wealth: Enrich the House of Another

Picture it: 20 years of work, and in the end, the fruit goes to a divorce lawyer, to a lawsuit, to a business partner who betrayed you. The transfer of wealth happens when you lack the discipline to protect what you built. Preventive wisdom is worth more than any recovery after the fact.

Shielding Your Legacy

Shielding your legacy begins with preventive choices: who you associate with, what you consume, how you use your time. There's no shortcut to real wealth. The wisdom that protects the legacy is the same wisdom that builds it.

The great wisdom is keeping the "effort" of your life aligned with the right partner: Jesus. He is the only Bridegroom who guarantees that the fruit of your work remains, grows, and blesses the generations that come after you.
