Solomon opens the heart of a father and a leader. He shows us that the true measure of success in teaching someone isn't making them obey out of fear, but seeing their mind actually transformed.
The Mirror of the Heart
Jesus said that the mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart. When a child or someone you lead begins to "speak what is right," that's the definitive proof that the teaching has moved from the intellect down into the soul. The hard work of instructing, correcting, and setting an example has finally borne fruit. Wisdom has stopped belonging to the teacher and now belongs to the disciple, and that is the greater victory.
Legitimate Pride
The Bible condemns arrogance, but here we see a holy and legitimate pride: the deep joy of someone who invested their life in another person and now sees them making good decisions on their own. A father's greatest prize isn't leaving his son a financial inheritance, it's hearing his son advise a friend using the principles of God.
The Focus on Transmission
If the final goal is to "hear you speak what is right," that means leadership is a process of transfer. A mediocre leader wants silent followers who just agree with him. An excellent leader creates an environment where people are shaped to think, speak, and lead with the very wisdom they received.
