Proverbs of May · Day 7

Intimacy with Wisdom

May 7, 2026 · Proverbs 7:4

Today's Verse

"Say to wisdom, 'You are my sister,' and to insight, 'You are my relative.'"

Proverbs 7:4 · NIV

Reflection

The End of the "Crisis Consultant"

Most people treat wisdom like a doctor or a fire extinguisher: they only remember she exists when the company is going under or the marriage is sinking. Solomon says the opposite: stop treating insight like a stranger. Treat her like family, like your closest friend. A closest friend is someone you have coffee with, talk to every day, and consult before any decision, not just in desperation.

The Inner Circle

In business and in life, you are the average of the people you spend the most time with. When you give wisdom the seat of "closest friend," your average rises dramatically. Bringing wisdom to the table means daily study, reading, and seeking counsel stop being an academic obligation and become a vital necessity. You start living alongside excellence.

The seat of closest friend and confidant should be occupied, first of all, by Wisdom.

Relational Protection

A person who walks hand in hand with insight doesn't fall into the traps of easy schemes or unethical decisions. Intimacy with truth shields the mind against lies. When wisdom lives in your house, failure through impulsiveness finds no room to enter.

Going Deeper

People Specialist — Tiago Brunet

Brunet teaches about the spheres of friendship (strategic, destiny, and intimate). The mistake many leaders make is putting flatterers in their inner circle. Solomon gives the blueprint for perfect networking: the seat of confidant should be occupied, before anyone else, by Wisdom.

The Power of Self-Responsibility — Paulo Vieira

The victim mindset prefers to be "best friends" with excuses, because wisdom confronts complacency. The self-responsible person embraces wisdom daily: reads, studies, and applies knowledge with such consistency that excellence becomes part of his own family.

Christ-Centered Reading

1 Corinthians 1:24

Paul says Christ is "the power of God and the wisdom of God." Wisdom isn't just a philosophical concept; it's a Person. When Solomon asks for intimacy with wisdom, the New Testament reveals that this invitation points to Christ.

John 15:15

"I no longer call you servants... Instead, I have called you friends." Jesus breaks every religious protocol. Religion tries to keep us distant, treating God as a severe judge we only approach in fear. The Gospel pulls us close: we've been invited into daily intimacy with Wisdom Himself, made flesh.

Today's Challenge

The Seat of Closest Friend

The difference between who grows and who stalls almost always lies in who is consulted before, not after.

Wisdom Pill

Superfriend of the Heart — To read with the kids

The invisible friend who warns before any trouble, and the challenge of the seat of the closest friend.
