The Wisdom That Comes Later
Proverbs 19 · 20 · NIV
Reflection
The key word isn't listen, it's accept. Everyone listens to advice. Few people accept it.
Listening is passive. Accepting requires active humility: evaluating, testing, and internalizing, even when it hurts the ego.
The self-responsible person treats feedback as data, not as an attack: "This isn't a judgment about who I am, it's information about what I did."
Today's Challenge
The Advice You Haven't Accepted
Identify a piece of advice you received and still haven't truly accepted. Ask yourself: "What would change in my life if I acted on that advice right now?"
The Christ-Centered Connection
Jesus at 12 years old was in the Temple, listening to the teachers and asking them questions. The Son of God modeled being teachable.
Luke 2 · 46
The Holy Spirit is the Advocate, but He only instructs those who are open to being instructed. Being teachable isn't weakness, it's the path of wisdom.
Proverbs 19:20 · Luke 2:46 · John 14:26
