Reflection
Whoever retaliates hands control of their own behavior to their enemy. Whoever acts with generosity keeps control.
Retaliation is victimhood in action, it lets the other person determine your next move. The self-responsible person acts from values, not from reaction.
Genuinely unexpected kindness stirs the conscience. It's the power that exposes evil without needing to fight it.
Today's Challenge
Act First
Identify someone who treated you badly. Is there a real need of theirs you could meet today? Act first. The heart follows the action.
The Christ-Centered Connection
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Jesus didn't just teach it, he lived it. In Gethsemane, he healed the man who came to arrest him. On the Cross: ‘Father, forgive them.’ Generosity toward enemies is the heart of the gospel.
