The Shield Against Whispers

Day 26 · March · Proverbs 26:22

Today's Verse

“The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to the inmost parts.”

Proverbs 26:22 · NIV

The Story

Have you ever had a friend come whisper in your ear: "I'm going to tell you a bad secret about so-and-so"? That sounds super interesting in the moment, like a forbidden candy.

But the Bible says that "candy" hurts the heart a lot. When we hear something bad about a friend, we start looking at them differently and our little head fills up with bad thoughts. The poison has been absorbed, even if it seemed sweet!

The Devil loves accusing people. But Jesus is our Advocate, he loves protecting and defending! Our Father in Heaven wants you to be the kind of kid who protects their friends.

If someone comes to speak badly about a classmate, the hero move is to say: "I don't like talking about people who aren't here. Let's play something else!"

Talking bad about people sounds like sweet candy, but it hurts inside. The hero kid uses the Shield and doesn't let malicious whispers in!
