Imagine you're walking down the street and you see an open gate with a giant sign that says: "Caution, Very Fierce Dog!". The foolish child thinks they're a superhero, walks right up close just to take a peek, and ends up getting a scare!
But the wise child? They don't even walk down that sidewalk. They cross the street and take the safe path, far, far away from the danger.
The Bible says today that we can't "chase after" what's wrong. If you know that touching something forbidden is dangerous, don't stand there staring to see what it's like. Turn your back and go play something else! Jesus did exactly that in the desert when the devil tempted him: he said "NO!" firmly and walked away.
The smart child doesn't try to get close to danger. They see the sign and run the right way!
