Day 8, so Proverbs 8.
What are you building with your words today?
Today's Verse
“Listen, for I have trustworthy things to say, I open my lips to speak what is right.”
Proverbs 8 · 6 · NIV
“Every word you say is like a brick: you can build a beautiful house or throw it and hurt someone. What are you going to build today with your words?”
The Practical “Why”
You know when someone says something nice to you and your day gets happier?
And when someone says something mean and it hurts?
That's because words have power! They can help or hurt.
God says in the Bible that we should say things that have worth,
and that are true. It doesn't help to talk nicely and lie!
Jesus was the best at this. Everyone who heard Him said:
“No one has ever talked like this!”
(John 7:46). His words were good AND true at the same time.
Today, before you speak, ask yourself a little question:
“Does what I'm about to say build up or knock down?”
Today's Challenge
Word Builder
Today's challenge is to say 3 good and true things to someone:
It only counts if it's real! At the end of the day, tell:
how many little bricks of good did you build?
