This verse removes the idea that God is indifferent to our daily choices. He reacts emotionally to our conduct.
God Is Not Neutral
The text uses strong words: "detests" (abomination) and "loves." There's no gray zone for God. Either our lifestyle pleases Him, or it causes disgust. The "way of the wicked" (a life based on cheating, selfishness, and evil) is repugnant to God's holy nature.
The Verb Is "Pursue"
Notice that the text doesn't say "loves whoever is perfect," but "loves those who pursue righteousness." The original word suggests a chase, a hunt. God loves the intentional effort of whoever is running after doing the right thing. He values the direction of your heart more than the speed of your feet.
Route Alignment
If you want to have God's favor in 2026, you need to walk on the road He loves. It's no use praying for blessing if your feet are walking the road of dishonesty. God doesn't bless what He detests.
“Empresas Feitas para Vencer” — Jim Collins
One of the book's concepts is fidelity to "Core Values." Companies that endured didn't trade their values for easy profit. God has a non-negotiable Core Value: Righteousness. Whoever tries to build their life violating this value (taking wicked shortcuts) is building a bankrupt company.
“Especialista em Pessoas” — Tiago Brunet
To connect with someone important, you need to discover what that person loves and what they hate. Nobody becomes a close friend of someone by doing what that person detests. If we want intimacy with God, we need to align our tastes with His: loving righteousness and hating wickedness.
Jesus said in Matthew 5:6: "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled". Jesus is the one who "pursued righteousness" all the way to the end, fulfilling the whole Law for us. When we decide to follow Jesus, we're automatically stepping onto the road the Father loves. He is the Righteous Way. Outside of Christ, we're on the road God detests; in Christ, we are "loved" and justified.
