The Strategic Partnership: The Secret of Perfect Execution

February 16, 2026 · Proverbs 16:3

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

Proverbs 16:3 · NIV

Monday is to-do-list day, meeting day, goal-setting day. But Solomon gives us the key so that none of it goes to waste.

The Act of Committing

In Hebrew, the word used here is Golg, which literally means "to roll." The image is of someone carrying a heavy stone (your projects, anxieties, goals) and deciding to roll that stone onto God's shoulders. It isn't just "praying over the plan," it's transferring the weight of final responsibility to Him.

The Order of Operations

Notice that the commitment comes before the success. Most people make the plan, execute it, and when it goes wrong, ask God to fix it. The wise person "rolls" the plan to God at the embryonic stage. He asks: "Lord, is this Yours? Can I put Your stamp on this?"

The Promise

The guarantee of success doesn't mean everything will go your way, but that God's purposes will be established. When your plans are aligned with His character and you take off the weight of anxiety (rolling it onto Him), your mind clears, your execution improves, and the outcome is established.

The Connection with Books

“Good to Great” — Jim Collins

Great companies weren't sharpshooters who got lucky on everything. They had discipline. Committing your plans is the supreme discipline. It's recognizing there's a "Majority Partner" (God) who holds control of the market and of circumstances. The companies that "rolled" responsibility toward the reality of the facts won. The ones that tried to force the market with arrogance broke.

“O Poder da Autorresponsabilidade” — Paulo Vieira

It might sound contradictory, but "handing it over to God" is the ultimate act of self-responsibility. The irresponsible person tries to control the uncontrollable and spirals. The self-responsible person does his part with excellence (plans) and hands the outcome (commits it) over to the One who has the power to guarantee it. That eliminates unproductive stress.

The Christ-Centered Connection

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus committed the greatest plan in history: Redemption. He said: “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” (Luke 22:42).

In that moment, He "rolled" the weight of salvation onto the Father. And did the plan work out? Yes. It was painful, it went through the cross, but it resulted in the Resurrection and our salvation. Jesus taught us that the plan that "works out" is the one that passes through the Father's approval.
